Your domain is your web address, like yourcompany.com. You already own it. To put your new Slate website on it, we just need you to hand it over. There are two easy ways, and you never touch anything technical.

Path 1: Transfer it to us
Your domain moves to us so we manage everything and you never touch a thing. It stays in your name, and if you ever leave, we give it back.
Path 2: Point it to us
Your domain stays where it is. You just point it to us with a few settings we send you. Best if your domain is brand new or you want to keep it where it is.
Do not worry. Text us your domain name and we check it, then tell you exactly which path to follow. You are never stuck.
1 Path 1: Transfer it to us
Three short steps on your side. After that, we do all the rest.
Unlock your domain
Sign in where you bought your domain and turn off the "lock" (sometimes called "registrar lock" or "transfer lock"). See your provider below for exactly where it is.
Copy your transfer code
Find your EPP code (also called "auth code," "authorization code," or "transfer code"). It is a short mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Copy it exactly.
Send it to us and approve the email
Text us your domain name and the EPP code. We start the move. Your provider then emails you to confirm the transfer, just click approve. That is it.
The rules (ICANN) do not allow a transfer if your domain is less than 60 days old, if you just changed its owner, or if you just moved it from another company. No problem: we use Path 2 (point it to us) right away, and transfer it later once it is allowed.
Where to find these settings (pick your provider)
- Sign in at godaddy.com and open your Domain Portfolio.
- Click your domain. Under Transfer, click "Transfer to another registrar" and continue.
- GoDaddy may text or email you a code to confirm it is you. Enter it.
- Click "See Authorization Code" and copy it. GoDaddy also emails the code to you.
Google Domains moved to Squarespace, so your domain is now managed at Squarespace.
- Sign in at account.squarespace.com and open Domains.
- Click your domain. Turn OFF the "Domain Lock" toggle.
- Click "Request transfer code". Squarespace shows it or emails it to you.
- Your domain must be at least 60 days old here to transfer.
- Sign in at wix.com and go to your Domains page.
- Open the domain's "Domain Actions" menu and click "Transfer away from Wix".
- Wix unlocks the domain for you and emails you the transfer code (EPP) within 24 hours, to your contact email.
- Sign in at hpanel.hostinger.com and open Domains.
- Click your domain and unlock it.
- Find and copy the EPP code (auth code).
- Your domain must be at least 60 days old to transfer.
Is your domain already at Namecheap? Good news, that is the same company we use. You do not need a code. Just tell us, and we use Path 2 (point it to us), the easiest option. No password needed.
No problem. Just text us your domain name and we find out where it lives and send you the exact steps. If you want to check yourself, look it up free at lookup.icann.org and read the "Registrar" line.
2 Path 2: Point it to us
Your domain stays where it is. You just point it to us with a few settings we send you. Copy and paste, that is it. We can only run your website, we cannot touch anything else in your account.

Open your domain's settings
Sign in where you bought your domain and open the DNS or Nameservers area. See your provider below for where it is.
Paste and save
Paste in what we sent and click Save.
Text us that it is done
We check it and confirm your site is live. It can take a few hours to start working, that is normal.

hPanel, Domains, click your domain, then "DNS / Nameservers", then "Change nameservers". Paste and Save.
Domain List, click "Manage", find "Nameservers", choose "Custom DNS" (or "Advanced DNS" for records). Paste and Save.
