Your domain is your web address, like yourcompany.com. You already own it. To put your new Slate website on it, we just need you to hand it over. Here is how, in a few short steps, and you never touch anything technical.

Like info@yourcompany.com? Tell us before you start. We copy your email settings first, so your email keeps working the whole time. Do not cancel your email plan.
Nothing goes down while the domain moves. We switch your address to your new Slate site only when it is ready. Do not cancel your old website or hosting until we tell you the switch is done.

For the person who runs the website: this is a registrar transfer to Slate Systems (Namecheap). Please (1) unlock the domain, (2) remove any Domain Protection (GoDaddy), (3) get the EPP / auth code and text it to us with the domain name, and (4) if the domain has email, send us a screenshot of the DNS records (MX, TXT) first. Please do not change the DNS and do not cancel email or hosting. We handle the DNS and the switch to the new site.

We move your domain into our account, so we manage everything and you never touch a thing. It stays in your name, we cover the yearly renewal while you are with us, and if you ever leave we hand it back to you, free, within days.

Unlock your domain
Sign in where you bought your domain and turn off the "lock" (sometimes called "registrar lock" or "transfer lock"). At GoDaddy, the transfer button does this for you. See your provider below for exactly where it is.
Copy your transfer code
Find your EPP code (also called "auth code," "authorization code," or "transfer code"). It is a short mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Copy it exactly.
Text it to us
Text us your domain name and the EPP code. We start the move in a few minutes.
Approve the move (do not skip this)
Stay signed in at your old provider. A few minutes after you text us, the move shows up there. Click Approve. At GoDaddy: open the Transfers page, then Transfers Out, then the In Progress tab. Check your domain and click "Approve Transfer". Other providers may send you an email with an approve link instead. Not there yet? Wait 10 minutes and look again.
If you skip this, the move still finishes on its own in about 5 to 7 days. Your new site waits that long.
The rules (ICANN) do not allow a transfer in the first 60 days after you buy a domain or move it from another company. A recent owner change can also lock it for 60 days. At GoDaddy, a domain that came free with a plan waits 120 days. No problem. Tell us anyway. We build your site right away and finish the move as soon as the rules allow. You still do nothing extra.
Where to find these settings (pick your provider)
- Sign in at godaddy.com and open your Domain Portfolio.
- Click your domain. Under Transfer, click "Transfer to Another Registrar". GoDaddy shows a short checklist and unlocks the domain for you.
- Click "Continue with transfer". GoDaddy turns off Domain Privacy at this step. That is normal. We turn privacy back on after the move.
- GoDaddy sends you a code by text, by your authenticator app, or by email to confirm it is you. Enter it.
- Click "Click here to see Authorization Code", then "Copy to Clipboard". GoDaddy also emails the code to the domain owner's email.
- Text us the code and your domain name.
- Approve the move (do not skip this). Stay signed in. A few minutes after you text us, go to GoDaddy's Transfers page, open Transfers Out, then the In Progress tab. Check your domain and click "Approve Transfer". Your domain is not there yet? Wait 10 minutes and look again.
GoDaddy says "Domain Protection" blocks the transfer? In your Domain Portfolio, click the plan name in the Protection Plan column, pick no protection, click "Confirm Downgrade", then "Continue & Verify". Enter the code GoDaddy sends you and click "Verify Code". It can take up to 90 minutes to update. Then start again at step 2.
If you skip step 7, GoDaddy approves the move on its own within 7 days. Your new site waits that long.
Google Domains moved to Squarespace, so your domain is now managed at Squarespace.
- Sign in at account.squarespace.com and open Domains.
- Click your domain. Turn OFF the "Domain Lock" toggle.
- Click "Request transfer code". Squarespace shows it or emails it to you.
- Your domain must be at least 60 days old here to transfer.
- Sign in at wix.com and go to your Domains page.
- Open the domain's "Domain Actions" menu and click "Transfer away from Wix".
- Wix unlocks the domain for you and emails you the transfer code (EPP) within 24 hours, to your contact email.
- Sign in at hpanel.hostinger.com and open Domains.
- Click your domain and unlock it.
- Find and copy the EPP code (auth code).
- Your domain must be at least 60 days old to transfer.
Is your domain already at Namecheap? Good news, that is the same company we use, so it is even easier. Just tell us your domain name and we move it into our account for you. No transfer code needed, no password needed.
No problem. Just text us your domain name and we find out where it lives and send you the exact steps. If you want to check yourself, look it up free at lookup.icann.org and read the "Registrar" line.
🔎 Your domain is not in your account?
You sign in and your domain is not in the list. Do not worry. It is almost always in one of these 2 places.

1. In another GoDaddy account of yours
Search your email
Many people have 2 GoDaddy accounts and forget one. Search your email for "GoDaddy" and your domain name. The receipt shows which email bought it.
Sign in with that email
Forgot the password? Use the forgot-password link on the GoDaddy sign-in page. Then do the steps above.
Still lost?
Look it up free at lookup.icann.org. The "Registrar" line names the company that has it. Or text us the domain name and we check.
2. With your web company
Your web company may have bought the domain in their own account. That is common, and the domain can still be yours. Ask them for one of these:
- Send them this page (use the WhatsApp button above). They unlock the domain and send us the code.
- Or ask them to move the domain into your own account first.
